Right man at right time. Explains why good generalship can defeat massive odds
A fascinating history of the Macedonians from pre Phillip through Alexander's reign. From an obscure almost barbaric tribe to rulers of most of the world, all because of one extraordinary individual - Alexander. Would love to visit some of the remnants of his empire in future travels. Look forward to reading more about this period.
I appreciate that Philip gets a decent chunk of this book. Often from when I read about Alexander, there is a few pages on Philip, and that's that. It's nice to get a full look at Philip. Frankly, he's quite the interesting sort himself. You have to wonder how he would have done when he attacked the Persians.
